Yamato Gym has been offering Dutch Muay Thai classes for men and women since 2001. The ultimately practical techniques of the Dutch Muay Thai style have revolutionized Mixed Martial Arts in The Netherlands, where it has been the fastest growing form of Martial Art. It has spread all over the world. The essence of Dutch Muay Thai is a strategy that enables its practitioners to convert defense into offence. It stresses the development of flexibility, power, and speed, emphasizing stretching, conditioning and practice. The principles behind the movements one learns, reinforce the essential points for any physical activity - the use of the hips to enhance power (as in throwing or hitting a baseball), keeping one's weight centered and low (as when hitting a tennis ball), and so forth.
In the classes at Yamato Gym, you will learn all the principles of Dutch Muay Thai. You will train punches, elbows, kicks, knees, blocks, counters and clinching. You will apply them in combinations, working with partners in controlled fighting situations. Classes consist of both practicing basic techniques, and application of them in varied situations, so whether you are there for the first or twentieth or even your hundredth time, there will be familiar things to refine and new things to learn.
